People Overcomplicate LinkedIn
I think people overcomplicate their start on LinkedIn and using it. They overthink it, read various, often contradictory advice about how to publish or build their brand on LinkedIn.

I implement LinkedIn and Sales Navigator in B2B companies.
I was inspired to write this post by information from someone I consulted with, who had already spent several months and a significant budget to start working on LinkedIn.
While I consider preparation an important stage, I think it’s better to start acting right away, in small steps, testing what works for you and what doesn’t.
A few tips for beginners:
Avoid on LinkedIn:
- Trying to publish 2 times a day because someone told you to.
- Writing clichés and platitudes that might work on people with goldfish attention spans scrolling through TikTok but not here.
- Sending generic messages as invitations
- Using complicated industry jargon and posts as walls of text.
Instead, this works on LinkedIn:
- Spend a moment getting familiar with this place, it’s a bit different from FB and Insta.
- Find people from your industry or professional niche here and see what they do.
- Start with comments before you start writing posts
- Find people who inspire you and click the bell on their profile to get notifications
- Do your homework like filling out your profile, but don’t stop there and wait for a miracle that something will happen by itself.
Focus on this for the first few weeks. Only then start acting.
Would anyone add something to this list?
