LinkedIn Offers Free Ready Banners
LinkedIn offers free ready-made profile banners: in June 2025 it added several AI-generated banners that regular free accounts can use too.
Free LinkedIn banners in short
- LinkedIn's ready-made AI banners come from Luma.ai, a young startup from 2024 not related to Microsoft, which runs a library of AI-generated photos you can use with full rights.
- Luma.ai integrates with tools like Figma and Webflow and has a Duotone effect that converts graphics into two-color images in your brand colors.
- LinkedIn's slide show banner can show more complicated products, but it is only available on paid accounts.
- A LinkedIn profile should above all be clear: say what you can offer and include contact details and a photo people can recognize you by in person. A great background banner is a challenge for many people.
Usually I don’t give advice: make a nice banner for your LinkedIn profile because I think the profile is like a business card and nothing more.
That means you should do your homework and that’s it.
The profile should be clear, should say what you can offer to another person. Don’t forget contact details and a photo by which you can be recognized in person when we meet. What to put in each section is in my LinkedIn profile checklist.
Whether this business card is on embossed paper with a gold logo or on ordinary chalk, but with all the necessary information has, in my opinion, less significance than to whom you give this business card.
However, even in this minimal homework it’s worth having some great banner in the background and this is a challenge for many people.
LinkedIn some time ago introduced the possibility of making a slide show as banners. It looks nice and allows showing more complicated products, but it’s only for paid accounts.
However, this week LinkedIn introduced a surprising functionality for me: we have several ready-made AI banners to use also on regular accounts.
Why did this surprise me? Because it’s promoting a foreign company not related to Microsoft.
Luma.ai is a young startup from 2024, which is a bank of AI-generated photos that you can use for yourself with full rights.
They write about themselves that unlike traditional photo libraries, Lummi is a perfect alternative to Unsplash and an exceptionally attractive price alternative compared to Adobe Stock Photos, focusing exclusively on AI-generated images.
They have integration with tools like Figma or Webflow and unique features like the Duotone effect, which involves converting graphics to two-color with your brand colors.
Their slogan is: “AI stock photos that won’t cause embarrassment” and looking at the website I’m able to believe it.
Microsoft has its alternative to Canva called Designer, which has an AI banner generation module and there were even attempts to integrate it with LinkedIn but something didn’t work out, as usual.
That’s why I’m happy about this facilitation when creating profile banners. Will you use it?
