Local Government Congress of Internet and Social Media

"Since 2023 I have been cooperating with the Local Government Congress of Internet and Social Media organizing the LOCAL-SOME conference. Besides conducting workshops on building the image of local government officials on social media, panels and training on using LinkedIn for better cooperation between local government and local entrepreneurs, I also became a member of the Program Board."

What is LOCAL SOME

LOCAL SOME is an annual conference organized as part of the Local Government Congress of Internet and Social Media. The event brings together local government representatives from across Poland who want to better understand social media and use it in their daily communication with residents and local businesses. It is a unique venue where the world of public administration meets digital marketing practitioners, creating a space for knowledge exchange that benefits both sides.

LinkedIn in local government — an underestimated channel

My presentations at LOCAL SOME focus on the practical use of LinkedIn by local government units. I conduct workshops on building the image of local government officials on social media, as well as training sessions on how municipalities, counties, and cities can use LinkedIn to establish stronger relationships with local entrepreneurs. This topic still surprises many participants — they tend to associate LinkedIn exclusively with corporations and large enterprises, overlooking its potential for public sector entities.

Why it matters

Local governments are increasingly turning to LinkedIn for recruiting employees, building employer branding for public offices, and communicating with the private sector. Mayors, village heads, and city presidents are discovering that a professional LinkedIn presence helps them attract investors, promote local economic initiatives, and project the image of a modern administration. In an era when young specialists also look for careers in the public sector, visibility on LinkedIn becomes a genuine competitive advantage for municipalities competing for talent.

Program Board and future development

Beyond my role as a speaker, I was invited to join the Program Board of the congress, which I consider a significant mark of trust from the organizers. I co-create the substantive program for upcoming editions, ensuring that LinkedIn and social selling topics remain a permanent part of the agenda. The key takeaway I repeat at every appearance: LinkedIn is not just for corporations — local governments have enormous, still untapped potential on this platform, and the sooner they embrace it, the greater the long-term benefit for their communities.
